When it comes to reshaping the narrative around perimenopause, menopause, and midlife, few voices are more powerful—or more purpose-driven—than Dr. Jila Senemar. An unstoppable force in advancing women’s health, Dr. Jila is a board-certified OB-GYN and founder of Miami Menopause Collective and JilaMD, a concierge practice that provides personalized care with a focus on perimenopause, menopause, metabolic optimization, and more.
With over 20 years of clinical experience and deep academic research, she’s helping women rewrite the script on aging, one evidence-based treatment and empathetic conversation at a time. Whether she's leading the charge in hormone therapy, speaking about the importance of longevity and balance, or delivering real talk on her podcast Her Time, Her Health, Dr. Jila is proof that when women advocate for each other, we all rise.
First thing I do each morning
“Every morning, I start with a quiet moment and my coffee—no distractions, just preparation for the day ahead. Then I dive into my Tracy Anderson workout routine. It's non-negotiable self-care. I can't show up for my patients, my practice, or my mission if I don't take care of myself first. This routine sets the foundation for everything else I do.”
Three things I always keep on my nightstand
“Three things you'll always find on my nightstand: my nighttime medications and supplements, my favorite Womaness body cream, and my journal—sometimes filled with reflections on the day's triumphs and challenges; other times abandoned mid-sentence because I got lost in whatever book has captured my attention. There's something about ending the day either processing my thoughts on paper or escaping into someone else's story that helps me transition from the intensity of my work to true rest.”
My go-to beauty hack or wellness ritual
“My go-to beauty hack is face oil and face masks. They replenish the moisture in my skin overnight, and I wake up with hydrated, glowing skin. It's simple, effective, and works while I sleep—the perfect beauty routine for someone with my schedule.”
“There's too much work to be done to pause now.”
My inner age (the age I really feel) and why
“My inner age is probably 35, and there's a reason for that—I have so much more to do and give. Something inside me has reignited with an intensity I didn't know was possible. There's this fire burning within me now, this unstoppable driving force that wasn't there before. They say this happens to some people after tragedy strikes. Some never recover from devastating losses, while others emerge transformed into a different version of themselves. I think that's what happened in my situation. There's a clarity now about what matters and what I'm meant to contribute to this world. It's given me a sense of purpose and urgency that drives everything I do.”
Advice I would give to my younger self
“I'd want her to know that she'll achieve everything she thought she wanted and so much more. All those dreams that seemed impossible, all those goals that felt too big—not only will you reach them, but life will surprise you with opportunities and impact you never even imagined. Trust the journey, even when it feels uncertain. Your path will unfold in ways more beautiful and meaningful than you can picture right now.”
We don’t believe in “The Pause.” Tell us, what are you not pausing on?
“I'm not pausing on empowering women during this critical transition because society has conditioned us to see menopause as decline, when in reality it should be viewed as liberation. Women going through this transition aren't done or becoming less useful— they're entering what could be their most powerful chapter yet. By their 40s and 50s, women often have more wisdom, confidence, and freedom than ever before. They're done trying to please everyone else and ready to focus on what truly matters to them. That's not an ending—that's a beginning. My mission is to help women understand that this phase of life can be their most impactful, productive, and fulfilling time. The world needs experienced, confident women who know their worth, not women who think they're past their prime. There's too much work to be done to pause now.”
What's your favorite Womaness product?
“I love the Let's Neck roller neck serum because it targets an area that's often neglected in skincare routines but shows aging so visibly. The roller application makes it easy to use and feels luxurious—it actually feels amazing when you apply it. As someone who's constantly in motion between patient consultations, media interviews, and community events, I need products that work efficiently and effectively. This one fits perfectly into my routine, feels great to use, and helps me feel confident and put-together, which matters when you're the face of your brand and mission.”
