Womaness Woman: Dr. Emily Morse

The sensation behind the podcast Sex With Emily wants a bottle of lube on every woman’s nightstand

By: Womaness Editors     2-Minute Read

If there’s a Dr. Ruth for today’s age, it is certainly sex therapist and author Dr. Emily Morse. Frank, fearless, and fun, her groundbreaking podcast Sex With Emily has been a phenomenon since it launched 15 years ago. On a mission to liberate the conversation around sex and pleasure, she has authored Hot Sex: Over 200 Things You Can Try Tonight!, helmed a MasterClass on Sex and Communication, and hosted her own show on SiriusXM radio. Morse has helped millions of people around the world navigate their sex lives through candid conversations that challenge cultural taboos and misinformation to create a future where people can connect deeply and embrace pleasure-filled lives. Below, we turn the tables to chat about what turns her on each morning, which books she pairs with her lube, and her secret to maximizing pleasure.

First thing I do each morning

“Meditate. Masturbate. Manifest. I always make time for the three M’s each and every day. Meditation is an important practice to clear my thoughts. Masturbation allows me to connect to my body and ground in pleasure. Manifestation channels my vision for the day.”

Three things I always keep on my nightstand

“My motto is 'a lube on every nightstand' because there should be no shame in your lube game. So along with a lubricant, I keep my books (my current reading list includes Unbound: A Woman’s Guide to Power by Kasia Urbaniak and The Desire Map by Daniella Laporte), and of course, Womaness Overnight Magic night cream.”

“Meditate. Masturbate. Manifest. I always make time for the three M’s each and every day.”

My go-to beauty hack or wellness ritual

“Easy: Hydrate and stay active. I drink hot lemon water every morning right before my workout (yoga, Pilates, bootcamp, or Peloton). A healthy body creates a healthy mind and you need both to maximize pleasure.”

My inner age (the age I really feel) and why

“25. That is when I had my sexual awakening and first discovered self-pleasure and my sexuality. I still make a conscious effort to stay connected to that curiosity and exploration. We are never done learning and exploring.”

Advice I would give to my younger self

“Trust yourself more. You know exactly where you’re going and what you’re doing and your intuition will guide your way.”

“You know exactly where you’re going and what you’re doing and your intuition will guide your way.”

We don’t believe in “The Pause.” Tell us, what are you not pausing on?

“I’m not pausing on my mission to get everyone to prioritize pleasure and liberate the conversation around sex.”

Word that best describes your Womaness

“Authenticness.”
